Employee Profile: Kevin Stevenson
When he’s not messing about in boats as an athlete or coach, Kevin Stevenson has been living his “engineer’s dream” at Concept2 since 2010.
Kevin is a mechanical engineer and works on the development of all our products, including prototyping, computer modeling, field testing and production support. He came to Concept2 after a 4-year engineering stint at a Maine shipbuilder.
Kevin has been a key player in the production and launch of the Concept2 BikeErg, though he works closely on all our other products, too—oars, indoor rowers and the SkiErg. He’s a former collegiate rower (Hobart and Dartmouth Colleges) and still makes time to get back in the boat and race every year at the Head Of The Charles Regatta®. This past year, Kevin teamed up with fellow Concept2 employees to jump into the Men's Championship Four event.
Since the inception of the BikeErg, Kevin has been cranking out workouts of the multi-machine variety, and the Concept2 triathlon (1000m SkiErg, 2000m indoor rower, 3000m BikeErg) has become a dubious favorite—“a positively brutal 16 minutes,” Kevin admits. Kevin also coaches rowing at nearby Craftsbury Outdoor Center in the summer.
For all of Kevin’s workplace accomplishments, the one he considers a highlight is winning the Concept2 karaoke contest two years in a row. Who knew!? No one was more surprised than us when Kevin belted out his rendition of “Jessie’s Girl” and brought down the house at our annual holiday party. There’s also a rumor that he’ll take up tuba playing again.
Kevin lives right here in Morrisville with wife Julie and two small kids (#3 is on the way!) and spends family time enjoying all the outdoor activities the Green Mountain State offers all year long.
