National Learn to Row Day
The 15th annual National Learn to Row Day kicks off this year on Saturday, June 4, at rowing clubs and boathouses across the country. This is an annual event where rowing facilities open their doors to anyone who wants to try rowing—FREE!
National Learn to Row Day is co-sponsored by USRowing and Concept2. The event is a community outreach day geared to educate and inspire all ages about the amazing sport of rowing. “The day plays a very important role in the overall growth of the sport by bringing visibility and attention to rowing within local communities,” says USRowing Director of Member Services, Susan Smith. “And for most organizations, National Learn to Row Day is an important recruiting tool to help build up their memberships.” USRowing provides participating organizations with a free promotional banner, along with posters, brochures and a multitude of event planning tips.
New this year, host locations will be entered in a prize drawing to win a pair of Bantam sculls, Concept2’s latest design which is well-suited to a variety of users including youth, recreational, beginners, and masters athletes.
“We’re proud to be long-time sponsors of National Learn to Row Day and hope that this first time rowing experience can translate to a lifelong love of the sport. We hope that everyone has a great experience on the water enjoying something new,” says Concept2's Judy Geer.
