SkiErg Training with US Cross Country Ski Team Member Liz Stephen
On Saturday, November 6, members of First in Fitness health club in Montpelier, Vermont, were treated to a ski clinic of Olympic proportions. US Cross Country Ski Team member Liz Stephen, who skied in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics in the 10K and 15K Pursuit, is a Montpelier native. She stopped in to give members of First in Fitness training tips on Nordic ski technique and information on how to use the club’s two new Concept2 SkiErgs effectively. Josh Carlson from Concept2 was on hand to help and brought two additional SkiErgs for members to try.
Liz started out describing her experiences on the US Cross Country Ski Team and what it takes to train for the racing season. Liz spends part of her time training at the new US Ski Team Center for Excellence in Park City, Utah. The Team Center has been using SkiErgs since Concept2 first introduced prototypes to elite programs for testing. Although most members attending the clinic were recreational skiers, they were interested in learning more about the SkiErgs and how they could use them for both general fitness and ski training.
We were grateful for Liz’s time, as she still had last-minute packing to do before her trip to Europe for the start of the World Cup season. Best of luck to Liz and thanks for a great clinic! We’re excited that the members of First in Fitness will be using the SkiErgs and cheering on Liz on the podium this winter!
